The seasons keep rolling along. But what a glorious autumn we had. Warm and sunny, and the colors in the trees!! It was all pretty good this year. But now the days are getting shorter and thoughts lean towards warm fires, hot chocolate, friends and family, and of course, dancing and folk music! PFS has lots in store for us. Be sure to checkout the calendar for details. And be sure to note the return of the ever popular New Years Eve Dance. Come and join friends old and new for a potluck meal before the dance, then dance in the new year.

The PFS Board is experiencing this season of change as well. Please join us in warmly thanking Patricia Jessup for her wonderful work as our Publicity Coordinator. We particularly appreciate the work and success that Gail has achieved in arranging for our recent dance bands and callers. Great job Gail! More top notch dances and concerts are on the way.  Please also thank Dale Le Dancin, of A Computer Guru!!, for resurrecting & maintaining the PFS website.  Thanks Roger for letting him move & edit all the material Roger created for PFS!!

This also means that we now have two vacancies on the Board, and two opportunities for PFS members to be involved with the organization and planning for the group. Its fun. Its exciting. It could be you. Feel free to contact any of your Board members for more details.

The Board wishes you all pleasant holidays, safe travels if you find yourselves a-traveling, and we'll see you at the dances and concerts!

Peace

From The PFS President, Dan Maher: 2007-08-08

This is my first message to all of you, and what I want to say is --Wow!!  The Glen Castrinos concert at The Attic and the last contra dance, these were both wonderful events.  Everyone had a great time!  I think for now, the PFS will continue as it has during the past two years emphasizing more member involvement, and possible taking a look at our role in the Palouse Community.  I am really exited about this prospect.  I am looking forward to working with the board, an upbeat group of both veterans and a couple of new folks,    Please renew your memberships, and know that we are going to be asking for more participation from all of you to pull events together.  Don't worry--it won't be drudgery, just good old-fashioned fun.  That's why we're here.

Board Meeting Minutes

2007-12-10

  • The Board is discussing plans for a meeting of all the regional Folklore Society's Board Members to come and exchange ideas and problem solve. .

  • More top notch dances and concerts are on the way. Check out the Calendar.

2007-08-08

  • Geri Sayler has kindly taken over the volunteer job of newsletter layout.

  • We are looking for a web page master. (Found!)

  • We discussed how to attract more members.

  • We are looking for  ways to further our involvement in the community

Volunteerism

A Call For Help

As your new volunteer coordinator, I would like to extend appreciation to all of you who are already helping the PFS.  The board itself is an all volunteer group.  Other volunteers put up posters, set up sound, design the newsletter, host out of town musicians and callers, bring refreshments to the dances and concerts, and help in many other ways.  We are always looking for more helpers to prevent burn out.  If you can help in any way, talk to a board member.     Thanks!  --Annie Hubble

Prepaid Dance Cards

Welcome to the newest benefit for PFS members... pre-paid dance cards. Have you ever wanted to come to a dance and leave your clunky purse or wallet at home? Ever forget your wallet or purse? Now you can pay for either a half a year, or a full year of dances at one time, and save money while doing so. Just present your card and get it punched when you arrive, or better yet, you can even leave the card in our files and it will be there when you arrive, light and buoyant and ready to dance. Pre-paid dance cards $30 for a half year (7 dances), or $60 for a full year (14 dances).
