Dances during the warmer months of summer  (Mid May through August) are usually held at the 
naturally air conditioned and rustic Old Blaine Schoolhouse

located south of Moscow on the NE corner of Eid & Blaine Roads.  It's about 8 miles, drive carefully. Watch for very tight, nearly square corners on the graveled and sometimes dusty road, and of course look for awesome Potlucks before the dance!!

Dances during the cool seasons of the school year  
(September through early May) are usually held at the warm & cozy
 1912 Center (AKA Moscow Community Center) 
at 412 East Third Street in Moscow, ID across from the High School

All dances are taught. Singles, families & beginners are always welcome
Admission is $5 for members, $7 for non-members
$4 for first time beginners before lessons at 7:30 p.m. Dancing begins  at 8 p.m.

House, Attic, and Public venue concerts occur randomly & continually thought the year, as artists travel by and stop to say "Hi!", sometimes with lots of planning, sometimes on nearly the spur of the moment, or just the details change, with news at the 11 hour, so plan to look in the newsletter, or check via last minute email via our email list service, hosted by yahoo groups, and check for updates on the Events Page    Calandar

  • Monday's;

    • On summer break, check before going!! Dancin in the Attic, half an hour to an hour lesson, dancing practice afterward, and west coast is the dance of choice of late. Occasional dances are in the 1912 Center, at 8:00-10:30pm (next up, august 22 2009 (Sunday before U's start!!)  It's a practice & dance for Swing, Latin and Ballroom dances, all skill levels, and more or less in order of preference as Tango (Argentine and American, Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Samba, Meringue, Foxtrot, Night Club Two-Step, Waltz and Polka!   • Wednesday's;  

    • Wednesday Latin & Ballroom Dancing By Veronica & Ryan:  8pm lessons, 9-11 open social dancing!  $3.00 a person, DJed. Held at Sears Dance Studio, North Grande St, Pullman, WA, across from Cougar Country Drive In.  More info to come (Palouse Dance on Facebook, I'm told, for more info)  Nice floor, bring dance shoes if you can!

    • The English country dance group will be dancing in East City Park, Moscow, ID on 12 & 26 August.                                                                      Thanks, Mitchell

    • Wednesday Night Contra Dance at the Women's Club, 9th and Walnut, Spokane, WA. Beginners' instruction at 7:15, dancing starts at 7:30 and ends at 9:30. Come and bring a friend or two!  There are folk dances every Wednesday at the Women's Club during the non-summer (~June 21-sept 21?) months, but June 24th is the last dance this 'spring', :-(.  The third Wednesday in the month is a Jam Dance, with jamming musicians

    • Swing Dance with the Swing Devils on Swing Thursday's, every Thursday all year long! 1920's, '30's and '40's Big Band Social Swing in the Moscow Social Club, upstairs above CJs (in downtown Moscow, 112 North Main) Instructions at 8 p.m. Dancing at 9 p.m. $3 per person, lessons included!

    • Farmers Market Music, Friendship Square, downtown Moscow, May Though October, 9-11:30 Free Social, Folk, Modern, Interpretive, Performance, and Joyful Dancing!  Some events may happen during the winter at the 1912 center... details, anyone??

    • Inland Folk with Dan Maher! 3 hours of music for your life and for your soles!  Northwest Public Radio with a much beloved world renowned local.  91.7 on the FM dial, 11-2pm  Dan plays concerts in the Attic, at the Coop, with contra bands, and for the right price, private and benefit concerts all over the North West!

    • Yogatopia hosts a Social Dance!  Ballroom, Swing, and Latin!!  Late Saturday afternoons 5:30-6pm for lessons, dancing from 6-9pm in room 103 of the Gladdish Community Center, Pullman, WA.

  • Sunday's;

    • Dance Training Recovery Day!!  Bend your knees & stretch!   :-)

Every Month...

At long last... its the return of a PFS monthly concert series.  Well... as of November 2007 and still going today, September, 2009 , on the First Thursday of each month, we'll have a concert with a local artist in the lovely, intimate Attic.  Join us for this concert at 7:00 PM in the Attic at 314 East 2nd St in Moscow. Admission by free will donation.

  • A Contra Dance   Most every 3rd Saturday -- 7:30 pm-11p.m. In the fall, winter, & spring, it's in the 1912 Center but if it's sweet summer time, it's in the wonderful Old Blaine Schoolhouse.  Check out the current events page for the next one!

    Slow jam is for shy musicians, and faltering and restarts will not ruffle any feathers. No Audience. Bring music or chords if you have them.   • Thursday, March 12th, and 19th  7-9 PM NEW CALLER'S CONTRA DANCE NIGHT
    Come out to dance at the Attic at 314 East 2nd St. 
    Contra Dances taught and called by our newest callers who attended the calling workshops in Spokane. Our first evening this last Thursday was lots of fun!  If sufficient dancers come, some of our dancing musicians can be freed up to play live music for this 2 hour session. If you'd like to learn dance in a smaller and less demanding setting, here's your chance. We're hoping for a good turnout of Experienced Contra dancers to help our new callers polish up their skills. All are most welcome to come find out what the new callers are working on.  If you have written a new dance and want to try it out for the first time, come and bring it along, and we'll all give it a try.
    This event is free, and we'll provide snacks.
  • Moscow Irish Jam Session   Now meeting at the One World Cafe in Moscow on the 4th Thursday, 8 p.m. - 10 p.m.  times now confirmed!!  Everyone welcome to come play, or just listen. Contact us? for more info.

Yearly Festivals!

  • First FRIDAY in May: Special Contra Dance in honor of the Moscow Renaissance Fair, Usually with Potatohead playing & Joseph Erhard-Hudson calling, held at the 1912 Center  in Moscow.  Teaching at 7.30pm and dance at 8.00pm
  • First Saturday (& Sunday) in May: Moscow Renaissance Fair @ East City Park, a performance dance for the event, we do a couple dances then bring in audience members!

  • Memorial Day Weekend, Seattle, WA  North West Folklife

  • Random Saturday during mid summer: Rendezvous in the Park w/music by very good bands, Tickets are a bit expensive, but well worth it!
  • Random Saturday during late summer: Contra Dance w/music by a good band, and calling by someone wonderful, at the Moscow Farmers Market, another performance dance on sloped concrete, although it's now not chipped and shattered anymore!

  • October Costume Dance, we usually have a special Halloween dance, costumes should be designed to be easy to dance in without damage to yourself or your partners!
